Any abstracts submitted must adhere strictly to the ECVO Abstract submission guidelines. All abstracts must include the final results of the study. They must be written in correct English and must be proof read before the submission. Incomplete abstracts or failure to follow the format will lead to rejection of the abstract without review.
Abstracts must be previously unpublished work at the time of submission and remain unpublished until after the ECVO Annual Scientific Meeting 2020. Studies submitted must not have been presented at a national or international meeting prior to the 2020 ECVO meeting with the exception of the 2020 ARVO meeting.
If experimental animals were used in the research, it is required that authors confirm adherence to the ARVO Statement for the Use of Animals in Ophthalmic and Vision Research and confirm that prior approval was obtained by the relevant institutional ethics committee such as an Institutional Animal Use and Care Committee. The relevant permit number (such as of the approved Animal Use Form) and date of approval must be provided.
Abstracts will only be accepted if the work presented has contributed to advances in veterinary and/or comparative ophthalmology.
In case you prefer an oral presentation, you have to choose between the following options:
Original Research Abstracts: Short oral presentations of original scientific studies (basic, applied, clinical) in veterinary ophthalmology.
Clinical Abstracts: Short oral presentations of interesting case reports or clinical studies.
Resident Abstracts: Short oral presentations of ECVO residents’ original research.
Posters: This session will consist of reports in poster format of investigative and clinical studies. All posters are required to be DIN A0 high size. Further information will follow with the acceptance of the abstracts. The posters will be available for viewing from Friday morning until Saturday night.
Each abstract will be evaluated by members of the Scientific Committee and marked based on design, originality, and relevance to ophthalmology. The abstracts will be ranked according to score and selected for presentation in the session requested, based on available space. Abstracts may be returned to the author for revision at the discretion of the Scientific Committee.
You will be notified of the outcome of the review process by early April 2020 to still benefit from the "early bird registration fee" for the congress.
Please note that the presenting author of an accepted abstract is required to register and pay the full Annual Meeting registration fee, attend the Annual Meeting and make the presentation of the abstract. Be aware that the abstract will only be published if the presenting author has registered for the meeting and paid the registration fee!
